The Molecular Medicine Summer Immersion Program is a two-week, full-day, laboratory-based experience designed for motivated high school students eager to explore science, medicine, and biomedical research in an authentic university setting. Hosted on the University of Houston main campus, this program gives students direct exposure to how discoveries in molecular and cellular biology translate into modern medical understanding and therapeutic innovation.
The Molecular Medicine Summer Immersion Program is offered in two identical sessions.
Each session follows the same curriculum, laboratory activities, mentorship opportunities, and instructional schedule.
Session 1: July 6 - July 17, 2026
Session 2: July 20 - July 31, 2026
Schedule: Weekdays, 9:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Registration Deadline: May 1, 2026
Each session is limited to 20 students to ensure close mentorship
Practical lab training in core biomedical and molecular techniques — including biosafety, sterile cell culture, gene delivery and expression analysis, fluorescence microscopy, bacterial culture, protein purification, and electrophoresis.
Interactive lectures and small-group discussions connecting experimental results to disease mechanisms and modern therapeutic strategies.
Team-based learning environment emphasizing critical thinking, communication, and collaboration.
Mentorship from UH faculty, researchers, and advanced student mentors, offering insight into academic and career pathways in the biomedical sciences
