Responsible AI Use that Cultivates Scientific Learning, Curiosity, and Integrity
BioMedEdu is pleased to welcome Sharon Li, a Yale University graduate and Schwarzman Scholar at Tsinghua University, to lead interactive sessions for students in the ASPIRATION Summer Program.
The sessions, Scientific Character in the Age of AI, explore how artificial intelligence can support scientific learning while preserving scientific character, critical thinking, intellectual independence, and personal responsibility.
Artificial intelligence helps students read scientific papers, explain difficult concepts, organize information, generate examples, and refine their understanding. At the same time, AI can introduce inaccuracies, omit important scientific details, oversimplify complex ideas, generate incorrect citations, and create a false sense of understanding. The sessions encourage students to think critically about both the benefits and the limitations of AI as a learning partner.
These sessions are part of BioMedEdu's broader Scientific Character in the Age of AI educational initiative, which builds upon the AI-guided scientific literature learning approach developed through the ASPIRATION program.
The initiative integrates responsible AI use with character education to help students cultivate curiosity, integrity, scientific judgment, and effective scientific communication while becoming thoughtful, ethical, and independent scientific learners.
Sharon Li graduated from Yale University and earned her master's degree as a Schwarzman Scholar at Tsinghua University. Her experiences span scientific research, nonprofit leadership in digital literacy, and responsible innovation and social impact strategy.
Following each session, Sharon hostsinformal question-and-answer discussions on college applications, scholarships, and career pathways in research, AI, technology, and social impact.
